What it actually looks like on a return
Meet Joe.
Joe wants his federal and state return filed, with a Republic Bank refund transfer and electronic signature. His refund is $2,000. You charge $300.
Joe receives
$1,700
Your prep fee comes out of his refund. Nothing else does.
You receive
$280
Your $300, minus the flat $20 Unity fee.
That's the whole transaction. No transmission fee, no bank-product markup, no state fee, no bureau cut — and nothing you have to explain to Joe when he asks what the extra charges are, because there aren't any.
Run that same return anywhere else and $82 to $150+ in fees comes off the top before Joe sees a dollar.
Structure is the USP
Everyone else charges the stack.
Transmission fee. Bank product fee. State fee. E-signature meter. Annual license. Service-bureau markup. Every line item is another leak in your season — and every one of them is money your client feels and you don't keep.
Unity has one line item. That's why the number is so different.

Who Unity is for
75+ returns a season. Refund transfers are part of your book.
That's the office Unity was built for. If that's you, the math is almost always dramatic — usually five figures a year kept in your pocket.
Pricing questions, answered straight
How much do I pay, and when?
You don't pay a dime until you start submitting returns. From there it's always — and only — $20 per accepted return, all season long. No upfront cost, no out-of-pocket cost. New offices start with a $300 credit that covers the first 15 non-bank-product returns.
Do I pay $20 for the federal return and $20 for the state?
No. $20 per return is all you pay. Attach and e-file as many states as you want at no additional cost.
How much does the software cost each year?
Nothing. TaxWise is included free, every year, desktop or online, with unlimited users — plus unlimited year-round access to premium support.
Are there any hidden fees?
Nope.
Is there a minimum return requirement?
Yes — a minimum of 75 federally accepted returns to qualify.
Is this too good to be true?
It's a fair question, and it's the first one most preparers ask. The answer is that Unity makes money one way — the flat $20 — instead of on the fee stack competitors layer underneath. There's no hidden margin to protect, so there's nothing that has to come back out of your client's refund. Over the past decade Unity has served thousands of preparers, and nearly 95% renew year after year.
Ready?
One flat $20 per accepted return. Nothing upfront.
